Everyone is different, maybe cos i never had a male figure in my life. And i also looked crap when i meet my boyfriends, i'm very causal. But during business, i'm always top notch professional.

Well, people if any of us were to see a girl all dressed up(long sashaying dress), hair styled up like the 50's or 60's(the ah-ma type of hair style), with stilettos and pouncing into a wet market/hawker centre. We know who that RP person is. Exclamation

No offence, but please elaborate what you mean by dressing up.
Some people could dress up a lot more than the preceived normal like in the above example. Is that what you mean? Wink

Eh really leh, I mean it Razz It all started wif my granny, who took care of herself & looked nice for Granddad. She din overdress, but she made sure she took care of her appearance, for e.g. she wld NEVER dream of wearing shorts to a formal event (okie, I noe this is a stupid e.g. *laffs*).

Then somehow she influenced all the ladies in the family, so No matter wat, we'll take care of ourselves. It doesn't mean tt we dun go casual, I think u noe wat I mean lah, rite? Casual can be sloppy or casual can be chic.

Congrats on ur interview!!! : ) And do keep me updated on the jewellery, I haf frens here who like beaded thgs : )

My own opinion:

Dress up to look better than appropriate and dress up for occasions are different things. Its not whether you wear shorts or slippers to formal events. Its more like how you dress and present yourself to others. In this case, i believe "vainpotedness' meaning presenting oneself to others, by looking better, which involves the fine selections of clothes and accesories, if necessary. Do you wear shorts to a restaurant? Do hawker centres have rules saying that you can't eat there because you're in a suit and tie? Imagine this scenario, you have some feelings for this girl and there's a group outing and she would be going. How would you dress? More to the occasion or more to present yourself better?

I don't see how RainbowPrincess "thinks very highly of herself". Can you list some examples? I mean i've read other threads in AA and she seems to help almost everyone who post some problems there. And not just mere giving a few words of concern, they seem to go through a lot of thinking processes. Does this seem to you that she treats others at a lower-class? Not to me at least.

RP, same as me. I think we are all influenced by our family in some way or the other. My grandma was also very vain. She used to have her hair done in 'waves' Hhheeh.. cos she said straight hair is very ugly. But i didn't have a granddad so she dressed up for herself. The women in my family were always financially independent, that's why I get very depressed if I'm unemployed -> have to wear the suits somewhere!

Speaking of which, this was a tale related to me by my ex-colleague Razz

She was wif her fren & her fren's fiance in some kinda jacuzzi. The fren was wearing pads in her bikini/swimsuit (can't remember exactly, it's been too long Razz ) & they were happily relaxing when suddenly, her fren's fiance pointed @ 2 thgs floating in the water & asked, "Wat's tt?" Razz

Yep, u guessed it, the silicon pads the fren was wearing had somehow been dislodged Razz She was so embarrassed, but both the girls pretended they had No idea wat those 2 thgs were Razz
